Privacy policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026. This is a plain-English policy for a small personal blog. It is not legal advice and should be reviewed by the site owner before publishing.
Who is responsible
The site owner (see the contact page) is the data controller for any personal data collected through this website.
What this site collects
- Server logs. Like any website, the hosting provider may automatically record technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used for security and keeping the site running.
- Emails you send me. If you email me, I will receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. I use it only to read and, where appropriate, reply to your message, and I do not add you to any mailing list.
- No accounts, comments or forms. The site has no user accounts, comment system or contact form at the moment.
- No analytics or advertising cookies at the moment. The site does not currently set tracking or advertising cookies.
Legal basis and retention
Where I handle your emails, the legal basis is legitimate interests (responding to people who contact me). I keep emails only as long as needed to deal with them, and normally delete them within 12 months.
Third parties
The site is served by a hosting provider who acts as a processor of technical log data. If affiliate links to Amazon are added in future, clicking one takes you to Amazon's website, which has its own privacy and cookie policies and may set cookies of its own. This policy will be updated before any such links go live.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to its use, or ask for it to be restricted. To do so, email the address on the contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated.
